From Kitchen To Store, and You

Wonderful news everyone! If you live in the Reno/Sparks area, you can now buy my products locally at the Great Basin Community Food Co-op:

This is a second location that carries my product line, but the first in the Reno/Sparks area. For those that know me, you already know that I have been splitting my time between Klamath Falls Oregon, and Reno Nevada. I used to live in Reno, I went to college in Reno, and I’m becoming a local of Reno again, and thought to myself… where would the folks that are looking for preservative free products would most likely shop? The co-op of course, where you can already find locally grown food and other goodies. It’s one of my favorite stores to shop because items are clearly identified as organic and non-GMO, two very important things for my health.

It was both an exciting and busy time for me to get started. First, I had to talk to them about potentially carrying my products. After some samples to try, and many answered questions, it was decided we’ll give it a try.

I patiently waited for the order, and then had a lot of fun and work preparing it. It took longer than I anticipated, but fortunately everything went smoothly, unlike the first time I had a very large order. That time I was so nervous that in the end, I unintentionally waxed my floor with beeswax, and ended up in a net loss since I had to remake an entire batch of my soon to be famous LCrème. I wasn’t nervous this time; I have done this quite a few times now, and it’s getting easier with every larger order.

The time had come to place the final labels on my products:

By this time I was starting to get a little tired, but I still had to make the delivery. So all packed up, I went to the Great Basin Community Co-op to meet them for my appointment.

My hubby had delivered the product refrigerator and shelves a couple weeks prior, so I thought I was all set to go. Except I did learn one lesson: next time I order a fridge and shelves that are custom made, make sure it all fits before delivery. The fridge was a little slanted (because it’s really a wine fridge), and after two jars broke from falling forward, I decided to cut the shelf legs towards the back to level it.

Then hubby came to the rescue and brought over one of the greatest inventions ever: Velcro. I was able to put the Velcro on the slick shelves to keep the glass jars with my precious creams from sliding off and breaking. Combined with cutting the back legs shorter, it all worked out perfectly.

Why a refrigerator? Because I don’t put any chemical preservatives in my products that would allow them to sit on a shelf for months and months. All my products are made fresh, kept refrigerated, and never sit on a shelf for an extended period of time. We refrigerate our food which goes in our body, why not refrigerate the “food” that goes on our body? Not all my products need refrigeration, but the ones that do, are designed with that in mind, and are better applied when cool.

The product fridge fits right in at the co-op:

I could barely fit everything where it needed to go, I should have bought a bigger fridge! I hid some extras behind and under the shelf that you can’t see:

Seeing all those products displayed nicely made me feel a sense of completion. More people now have access to products that are free of unnecessary and potentially harmful synthetic chemicals. And products that offer real science behind them. A good feeling. I was exhausted after all was said and done, but I would and will do it again.

Ready to make and bring more:
