Book Review – The Magic Strings of Frankie Presto by Mitch Albom

If you like music, you will LOVE this book. If you love music, you will wonder how you never heard of this book. And if you don’t like music (highly doubt it), this book will make you fall in love with music you have never heard of before. While a little confusing of who is the narrator at first, it soon becomes obvious the story is written from the perspective of music, as music follows the life of a child that holds musical talent. Once you realize this point of view, you will not be able to put down The Magic Strings of Frankie Presto and will rush back to your reading every chance you get, because you want to find out what happens next!

Yet next is not enough, because you must know more, you must unravel the mystery. Where did orphaned Frankie get his talents? How did his dog find his way back to him? How will Frankie survive the trek against all odds? And are the strings really magical? In the meantime you don’t even realize the book is singing to your soul.

A book about human resilience to the core, a tale of musical history with a story for everyone. Sure, you have some unbelievable coincidences, but doesn’t that sometimes happen in real life? So many times I have said that I wouldn’t believe it if I hadn’t seen it with my own eyes. Okay, I admit, this is a book, it is fable, it is a story, but so is a song! Don’t let the remarkable coincidences and luck lure you away from the magical story that will unfold in your mind as you read this (or better yet, listen to the audiobook).

If you’re an audiobook reader like me, you are in for a surprise of the extra enjoyment of the different voices that read their appropriate sections which makes you wonder how in the world the author accomplished just this.

The writing style, the mystery, the stories within the story, this book will capture your mind. When you’re all done, you will want more, and more, and more.

Enjoy!
